Have a little faith

A good friend of ours recommended a great book.  "Have a little Faith" (written by Mitch Albom) was an excellent read.  It focuses mainly on the Jewish and Christian perspectives and challenges everyone who is seeking a richer understanding of faith.

The most valuable aspect of the book, in my opinion, is the way it poses the questions that many of us are trying to answer for ourselves. But it doesn't use strong-arm tactics to push the reader in one particular direction or another.  It simply relates the very different journeys of two men, one a Jewish Rabbi and the other a Christian who once had a shady past.

The following are some of the questions raised during the course of this short but very interesting story:

1) Do we feel a need for faith?

2) Do we hunger to be part of something bigger than ourselves?

3) Does God really exist?

4) Why do bad things happen to good people?

5) Is human nature basically good or evil?

6) What will give us true happiness and joy?

7) Is the object of our faith real and true?

8) What's next after this life?

9) Are we unsettled by the "great unknown" after death?

10) Are we afraid of being forgotten when we pass on?

Enjoy the book, if you decide to read it. It may not fully answer all these questions but it certainly provides some sign-posts for anyone seeking to be part of something bigger than themselves.
